Senior Sergeant Iyo Malone

The entire team at WISH – the Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing – joins the nation in mourning the heartbreaking loss of Senior Sergeant Iyo Malone. Our deepest condolences go out to her family, loved ones, colleagues in the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, and the Potters community as they navigate this devastating time.

Iyo Malone was more than a dedicated officer – she was a protector, a servant of the people, and a beloved member of our community. Her passing is a stark and painful reminder of the unseen burdens that so many carry, often in silence. This tragedy calls on us, as a nation, to confront the reality of mental health struggles with urgency, empathy, and action.

We acknowledge that, in the wake of her passing, speculation and assumptions have run rampant across social media. At WISH, we urge our community to honor her memory with dignity and respect. Instead of engaging in harmful gossip, let us use this moment to educate ourselves and extend grace to those who may be struggling. Every unkind word can deepen someone’s pain, and every act of compassion can be a lifeline.

Mental health is as real and critical as physical health, and no one is immune. It is time we normalize seeking support without fear of judgment. If you or someone you know is experiencing distress, please reach out. You are not alone. WISH remains committed to providing safe spaces for open dialogue, education, and support. Let us turn our grief into action by advocating for stronger mental health policies, accessible resources, and a culture of kindness.

To the family, colleagues, and friends of Senior Sergeant Iyo Malone – we stand with you in this time of sorrow. May her legacy inspire us all to do better, to be more understanding, and to uplift one another in love and support.

If you are struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or seek professional help.

She took her own life! She won’t RIP if she didn’t make things right with her maker. It’s coward way to die tbh. This is why mental health is important. Those who ignored her pleas for help, her blood is on your hands.

You know something we don’t?! Who did she plea to? What was she going through?
