You can now listen to Antigua News articles!

The news of her passing hits especially close to the Five Islands community. The loss of moments that once seemed routine, gallivanting about the school field, interactions in classrooms, cheering for your house during sports week, are now silent reminders of our shared reality.

This painful event is a reminder of the uncertainty of life and our responsibility to protect and uplift our children and students, highlighting the importance of safety, support, and encouragement in all educational spaces. To every student, teacher, and parent grappling with mourning, know that you are not alone.

This is a moment of mourning, but it is also a clarion call to action. Chantel’s life was precious, and we must honor her memory by standing together for justice, for safety, and for every child who deserves to grow up feeling protected and living without fear.

We cannot allow another family to suffer this agony, nor can we allow another innocent life to be taken. We must strengthen our commitment to vigilance, advocacy, and accountability, enabling the measures necessary to safeguard the most vulnerable assets among us.

As the authorities work tirelessly to pursue justice, we, as a society, must demand that this tragedy ignites a real, lasting change.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Sincerely,
The UWI Five Islands Campus Guild Council

Well now we know and we need to eradicate the source, uproot their seedlings ASAP, especially since it has become quite clear that this source is being protected by the powers that be. Their power is term and age limited. People power, however, transcends even generations.

Was a really tough weekend. I wonder if the police officer was affected mentally by this case?

The more I read the less I understand. Didn’t know this cruelty existed in our little beautiful island
