The upcoming Barbuda Council Elections, scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, 2025, will see twelve candidates vying for seats, following a smooth nomination day process held at the Barbuda Registration Unit facility at Low School.
Nomination day began promptly at 10 am with candidates from the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) being the first to complete the nomination process.
Five ABLP candidates were duly nominated: Arthur Nibbs, Bernard Christian, Orlando Morris, Mackiesha Desuza, and Bonneitha John.
Thereafter, the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) successfully nominated their slate of five candidates. Those duly nominated for the BPM are Wayde Burton, Nico Antonio, Melanie Beazer, Nadia George, and Jacklyn Frank.
Two Independent candidates have officially entered the race, adding to the competitive field dominated by the established political parties. The Independent candidates are Hesketh Daniel and Jermaine Desouza.
Electoral officials reported that the nomination process proceeded without incident, with all candidates fulfilling the necessary requirements to appear on the ballot.
The Barbuda Council serves as the local government body for the island, handling various aspects of administration and development.
The upcoming election is seen as particularly important as Barbuda continues recovery efforts following recent challenges, including infrastructure development and environmental concerns.

We know they still campaigning on land ownership.
Right now I’m fed up of this matter in itself
Same old crap every two years! I wish that those people would surprise me for change. Look at their aging nest of parrots, repeating the same old jingle year after year, taking advantage of their own just to maintain their social distance between themselves and the rest. Yawn, yawn, yawn
🤭🤭
All the best to the backward thinking Barbudans. A weird group of people!
At least their country is not going to hell in a hand basket,f.n.#1 unlike Antiguans, they are fighting to keep their lands for their children. This government here is selling ours back to who we bought it from.
