LETTER: All Tinted Vehicles Should be Banned in Antigua and Barbuda

18 March 2025 - 13:41

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the issue of tinted vehicles in Antigua and Barbuda.

In light of the tragic abduction and murder of nine-year-old Chantel Crump, who was taken on her way home from school, I believe it is imperative that the government takes immediate action to remove all tints on vehicles.

The safety of our children should be our top priority, and tinted windows can hinder visibility and make it easier for individuals with malicious intent to conceal their actions.

By banning tints, we can enhance the security of our communities and ensure that our children can travel to and from school safely.

I urge the government to reconsider its stance on vehicle tints and take proactive steps to protect our most vulnerable citizens.

  1. Not a bad idea once you can solve the issue to block out the son during waiting in a long line of traffic

    • In a small society such as the ones we live in, the banning of tint is an extreme measure which is not necessary…I have work vehicles which require it for moving around within this extremely hot climate….

  2. I totally disagree with this opinion. There is no correlation between tinted vehicles and adduction and crime. If you have evidence profuce it

  3. I am totally in disagreement with this article. Tint is needed because
    1. It protects the interior of the vehicle
    2. It keeps you cool when the sun is hot.

What should be enforced as it is already in place is the darkness of the tint.

  13. While your opinion may have some merit I don’t believe there should be an all out ban. I will agree that some people overdo with the tint. Like if your job does not require it why is it necessary
