Shawn Mussington is on trial for the murder of his ex-partner Simone Whyte-Barrington (file photo)

Multiple witnesses claimed Mussington confessed to the crime, with one adding that the accused reportedly stated he was first attacked by the deceased and that he was attempting to live a “Christian life.”

The incident allegedly occurred during a customer appreciation event at a business on Tanner and Market Streets, where Whyte-Barrington worked as a hairdresser. The district doctor who examined the deceased testified that she was pronounced dead at 10:45pm from a stab wound to the chest.

Previous testimony revealed that less than two weeks before the killing, Whyte-Barrington had filed a police report stating that Mussington had threatened to kill her and himself.

The trial continued today before Justice Tunde Bakre and a jury of eight women and three men, who must determine if Mussington intended to kill the woman.

This is what happens when the police does not inform the public of what is really going on

These crimes of passion happen too often in Antigua. I know women still receive a beating from their men and they are still in that home. There are times when women call the police and they intervene. Two days later the same man in the house cooking in the kitchen with his boxershorts. Sometimes women cause their own demise. Sorry but it is the truth
