In response to the recent abduction and tragic murder of nine-year-old Chantel Crump, the government of Antigua and Barbuda has announced the implementation of plainclothes police officers around schools.

The measure aims to enhance the safety and security of students as the nation grapples with the impact of this heartbreaking event.

Chantel, who was abducted while leaving school last Wednesday, was found dead more than 48 hours later, shocking the country and prompting calls for action.

The Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister addressed the media during the weekly Cabinet briefing on Thursday morning, outlining the government’s latest efforts to bolster safety measures for school children.

Well, let’s put it that way, that means the officers are no longer under cover. Unless this was a public statement made, I don’t think that this should be posted. That’s like blowing a cover.
