Man Found Guilty in 2022 High Street Shooting Incident

A High Court judge has found Damien Joseph guilty of shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in a case stemming from a 2022 incident in St. John’s.

Justice Ann Marie Smith delivered the verdict following a judge-only trial that began Monday, where Joseph represented himself against charge.

The conviction relates to an incident on May 30, 2022, when Joseph allegedly fired at fellow Cassada Gardens resident Kelvin Constant as he drove along High Street around 7:30 pm.

According to court evidence, Constant was driving his pickup truck when he observed Joseph and his cousin walking in the opposite direction.

As they neared each other, Joseph reportedly discharged a firearm at the lower part of Constant’s windshield.

The bullet shattered a speaker tweeter before lodging in the truck’s cabin. Though the shot missed Constant he immediately contacted emergency services to report the incident.

Joseph now awaits sentencing while in His Majesty’s Prison.
