Prime Minister Gaston Browne has spoken to the dire need for public misinformation on serious matters.

PM Browne was speaking on the Browne and Browne Show and referring to a situation on the JTruth Show where a female caller made assumptions that the Prime minister’s daughter may have benefitted from organs from nine-year-old Chantel Crump.

PM Browne says the time has come to seriously address the matter as misinformation could gravely impact the nation.

He went a step further to accuse the UPP and their supporters of using their media portals to peddle this misinformation and persuade persons in this wrongdoing.

“Maybe she is not necessarily malicious, and she may be thinking out of the box. She has not stopped to rationalize and think and has not stopped to think about the consequences of what she is saying.

“Misinformation can compromise the democracy of the country. It’s always the Prime Minister. I mean we have to spend some time to see how we can build some level of trust within the society. When it comes to my integrity, I can stand toe to toe with any Caribbean or international leader. If we as a nation don’t come together and try to restore some level of trust in the society so that you don’t have misinformation taking root, we are going to have a problem in the future and those who are fuelling this type of behaviour will live to regret it. When a young lady can think that the PM of the country can authorize the killing of a child to harvest her organs, then clearly, we have a problem,” Browne cautioned.

He went on to call on the nation to be more responsible especially when speaking on public domains.

The police have also spoke on this matter asking for these individuals to desist.

The police have dismissed claims circulating on social media that the body of Chantel Crump was mutilated.

While they have not disclosed details about the condition of the child’s body when it was discovered, they stated that the allegations of mutilation are untrue.

Chantel Crump, who was only nine years old, was found deceased in the bushes at Weatherhills.
