In a recent cabinet meeting, officials addressed growing concerns regarding the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP) that several OECS countries are currently implementing.
The discussion was sparked by a recent claim made by the United States Secretary of State, suggesting that these investment programs pose a threat to U.S. security.
This assertion echoes previous comments made by the European Union Commission, which were ultimately disproven. The cabinet expressed confidence that the U.S. would encounter similar challenges in substantiating its claims against the OECS nations.
To counter these allegations, the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) are already equipped with comprehensive legal documentation and publications to defend the integrity of the CIP.
Adding to the diplomatic efforts, the Prime Minister of Barbados, who concurrently engaged with the U.S. Secretary of State, is tasked with advocating for the OECS countries within CARICOM.
Notably, the Prime Minister is a Queens’ Counsel (QC), highlighting her legal expertise in navigating this critical dialogue.
The cabinet remains optimistic about fostering a constructive dialogue that recognizes the benefits of the CIP, both for the participating nations and their investors.
What about the two passports you gave the person bought the Alfa Nero from the government..prove me wrong
Lol you are misinformed! How dare you speak your perceived truth. Trying to embarrass us
2 glaring errors in the report:
The PM of Barbados is a female Mia Mottley.
On King Charles ascension to the throne, when the Queen passed, the PM became a Kings Counsel (KC)
The term Queens Counsel (QC) is used when the monarch is female.
Thanks for the correction English. You know it so well. AN needs to go thru a few things first before posting
The cabinet should be working on more serious problems.
I am confident that Mia will do a great job
