A 32-year-old Jennings resident has been sentenced to prison to spend the next two years after he admitted to possessing a dangerous modified weapon last week.
Steven Roberts entered a guilty plea on March 26 when he appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel at St. John’s Magistrates’ Court.
The charges arose from a March 25 police search of his home, where officers discovered a modified nail gun and two 9mm ammunition.
A female occupant initially charged alongside Roberts was discharged following her not guilty plea.
This morning he was sentenced to two years imprisonment for the gun and 9 months for the ammunition. However the sentences will run concurrently.
More consistent jail time please. I quite agree that this young man deserves to serve his full two years at HMP.
However, a few days ago, a man threatened to kill a woman while holding g a cutlass to her neck. He received a mere THREE (3) MONTHS!
Make this make sense!
2 years doesnt sound enough. but okay. Modified gun. what was the attempt? did the court think?
There seems to be some sort of disparity in sentencing for the same or similar crime. I guess it depends on how the magistrate feel when they wake up that morning.
Well he broke the law. So it go!
