The People’s Republic of China has agreed to extend its housing grant for the construction of additional condominium units in Antigua and Barbuda.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced this development, stating that the Chinese construction company involved in the ongoing Booby Alley Project has finalized discussions with the government for the construction of 200 new units.

“The Chinese construction team is ready to initiate the second phase of the housing grant,” PM Browne shared.

He noted that the current Booby Alley project represents the first phase of this initiative. The new construction will see 50 units developed in Louie Hill, Barbuda, while 150 units will be built in Jennings.

The prime minister further explained that the company plans to conduct preliminary studies, including soil testing, in the coming months, with an eye toward beginning construction later this year.

Specific sites for the new housing developments have already been determined, with plans to reserve several units for residents currently living in substandard accommodations at Perry Bay.

“We aim to address the challenges in Perry Bay, which currently suffers from significant infrastructural issues, including a lack of essential facilities,” Browne stated.

I always wondering why the Chinese are always so kind to us. What’s in it for them. But not every body has bad mind so thank you China for your support
