A 46-year-old Dominican mother, Adama Shillingford, along with her 14-year-old daughter, has been granted bail following their arrest in connection with an altercation that took place in the capital city of Roseau on April 4, 2025.

The bail, set at $10,000, comes after a dramatic incident involving students that gained widespread attention on social media.

The viral video depicts a confrontation where one student allegedly threw a liquid substance into another child’s face, prompting intervention from authorities. It was found to be alkali.

Shillingford appeared before Magistrate Hanson Valerie at the Roseau Magistrate’s Court, where she faced four charges: battery on a minor, assault on a minor for splashing an alkali substance into another child’s eyes, possession of a knife with a black handle, and aiding her daughter in the alleged attack.

Initially, she pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon but later revised her plea to not guilty for all charges after consulting with her attorney, Zena Moore Dyer.

As a condition of her bail, Shillingford is required to report to the Roseau Police Station on a weekly basis. The court has adjourned the case until July 18, 2025.

Her daughter, facing two summary charges, has also pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear before a juvenile court on April 9, 2025.

Cases like these the parents deserve no bail. Cases like these shows how bad parenting is a common thing in today’s world. Why would you accompany and allow your child to through chemical into another childs eye. Futher more they know what they were going to go as to why the chemical is in a water bottle. And then that attorney. You should be ashame. I mean you’re just doing your job but the video is here for evidence.
