LETTER: Concerns Rise Over Young Men Publicly Smoking Spliffs in Our Country

You can now listen to Antigua News articles!

I am writing to express my concern about a growing trend that I have noticed recently in our community. It seems that young men, particularly those who catch the eye with their style, are frequently seen walking around with a spliff in hand. This has become an increasingly common sight, whether I’m doing my grocery shopping or simply taking a stroll through town.

While I understand that societal norms are constantly evolving, I can’t help but feel that this casual display of drug use is crossing a line. Is it now considered the new norm for young men to flaunt their joints so openly?

The image of young men with dark lips and a joint, projecting a carefree attitude, raises questions about the message they are sending to our youth and the implications it may have on public perception.

I worry that this behavior could influence younger generations and may contribute to a more relaxed attitude towards substance use. I also wonder what caliber of men would be left for our young women.

It’s important to foster an environment where healthy choices and responsible behavior are valued, rather than normalized through public displays of drug use.

Lol come on really. You sound foolish to even type that nonsense. Are we not to look out for our brethren.

First of all, Marijuana is not a drug…it’s an herb freely given by the Almighty. Check your medicine cabinet for the poisonous man made concoctions-drugs- that are addictive and murderous keeping your doctor in that big house and nice car and big pharma in big business. Secondly, I do agree that everything must be done in decency and in order. For example, not smoking indoors or around nonsmokers or in public spaces when there are other people around. Thirdly, the hypocrisy is real since hardly anyone complains of cigarettes being smoked openly. Heck they are definitely harmful to one’s health and is more of a scourge ( scientifically proven) on society than Marijuana has ever and could ever be. Finally, we need to change our negative mindset concerning weed by asking ourselves why we think as we do concerning this plant. Could it be that we were brainwashed by the powers that be and if so why?

Since you brought the almighty and nature into the conversation, allow me to do the same. There is an approved way for medicine to get into your body, where it gets a chance to filter out toxins and other harmful substances, that can potentially alter your mind, and increase your dependence on the medicine. I can tell you, the approved way is not smoking. Also, there is an approved way to get into the spirit realm (which is what drugs do), and it is through prayer. Finally, after ingesting the medicine, which is the proper way, what is the proper dosage? In short, how you do it and how much you do matters. A public discussion is needed on this subject.

Very good points, teacher for life. The problem is that the harsh truth is not easy to accept by the powers that be.. they go by status quo..

Letter writer please. The herb is for the healing of the nation. People should be able smoke their joint freely and opening as long as they are not blowing smoke in people’s faces. I would say if you have an issue blame your prime minister who free up the market. He always say he is a rastaman anyway. Why you people always want to come on media platforms and cause a mess with your personal biasness. Move

If i were to add my eleven sence, there is nothing wrong with the herb. The way we use it and the reasons are something to take into account. Some people have actually lost their minds using the blunt. And others are able to keep their mind in tact. I don’t knowwwwww. I tried this once and almost died (or at least it felt like it)….and I have friends who have been doing it for ages and they are smarter than me. I just don’t know. Honestly
