The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda continues to expressed deep disbelief regarding accusations from operatives of the United Progressive Party (UPP) concerning the sale of the Alpha Nero vessel.

The Cabinet’s response follows allegations that UPP members, alongside a Russian citizen, disseminated false information about the transaction.

Officials emphasized that all documents related to the legal sale of the vessel have been transparently published in various formats, including in newspapers, online, and made available to both local courts and the U.S. Court overseeing subpoenas for associated documents.

The Cabinet underscored that the evidence clearly demonstrates the legitimacy of the sale, contradicting the UPP’s claims.

An explanation presented to the Cabinet pointed to a “willful suspension of disbelief” among UPP operatives, a psychological state often exhibited by those who attempt to mislead others while avoiding the consequences of being proven wrong.

Efforts are ongoing to support investigations aimed at validating the truth and exposing the fallacies in the UPP’s assertions.

To address the situation and further inform the public, the Cabinet scheduled a comprehensive two-hour program on ABS-TV for Thursday evening, April 10, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.

This broadcast aims to clarify the facts surrounding the Alpha Nero sale. Following this, a public meeting will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., intended to dispel the UPP’s unfounded accusations, which the Cabinet argues have severely damaged the reputation of Antigua and Barbuda and its government officials.

The Cabinet reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability, urging citizens to remain informed and engaged as efforts continue to rectify the misinformation circulating in public discourse.

  2. The shameless attempts of the “party” to destroy the reputation of my country and its hardworking, dedicated leaders have been laid bare. Their desperation knows no bounds!!!! This is such a clear indication of the “party’s” unreadiness, and unfitness for governance of this country. Heck, they can’t even manage a dwindling , ragtag bunch of wannabes. EOS (Enemies of (the) State) ALL of them!

  3. They can call it ‘transparency’ all they want — but something smells off. Why did it take this much public pressure to get answers?

  4. The Cabinet spent more time attacking the UPP than addressing the core concerns. The people deserve real answers, not political theater. Just because documents are shown doesn’t mean the process was clean. Let the courts, not politicians decide.

  5. I’m not picking sides, but this situation definitely needs an independent review. Too much finger-pointing, not enough accountability. The sale of Alfa Nero and Antigua’s reputation is what matters. The voices of the upp has no say here and we won’t be looking at the opposition if we have to begin to point fingers. The ones we are focussed on are the ones behind the sale of the 82 x 14 meters luxury motor mega yacht, originally valued at over $100mil

  6. I watched the full live. Documents, court filings, everything was presented. This whole controversy feels like a distraction tactic by the opposition. but we have it transparency in action. The Cabinet laid it all out. The UPP needs to stop playing politics with our international reputation. Tarnishing the name of our Prime Minister to gain what? a seat in office? to do what? drag antigua to the dogs? come on.
