The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute for Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at The University of the West Indies honored Antiguan Soca band Burning Flames during the 26th Annual SALISES Conference for their significant contribution to Caribbean music and culture.

The award, presented by Professor Don Marshall, recognized the band’s impressive 41-year legacy in the industry.

The specially designed flame-shaped award highlighted their longevity and impact on music in the region.

Professor Marshall noted that Burning Flames’ achievement surpasses previous honors, like that of Barbadian band Krosfyah, which celebrated 30 years.

Founded in 1984, Burning Flames has earned its place as a key cultural institution in Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Caribbean.
