Ian “Magic” Hughes

Jamale Pringle, leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), refuted social media claims about Ian “Magic” Hughes’s appointment as the party’s Public Relations Officer.

Addressing the rumors on The Serpent in the Snake Pit show this past Saturday, Pringle emphasized that any such appointments must adhere to the proper constitutional processes outlined by the party.

“No PRO can just be appointed by the leadership,” Pringle said during the broadcast.

He stressed that the allegations suggesting Hughes had been named as spokesperson for the UPP were unfounded, labeling them as a diversionary tactic.

“A PRO, according to the constitution of the UPP, must be appointed by the party,” he added. “For persons to put it out there that the UPP has chosen Hughes to be PRO of the party is false, and that is not how it works.”

The controversy ignited following a letter published on April 17 that questioned Hughes’ position within the party.

The discussion intensified after former UPP PRO Winston “Fled” Henry publicly criticized Hughes.

Social media platforms have since speculated on Hughes’ alleged appointment, especially considering his criminal conviction in 2018 for indecent assault involving a 13-year-old girl.

In light of this situation, Pringle announced that the UPP plans to hold a general council meeting in which the party’s membership will officially elect a new Public Relations Officer.

This move aims to clarify and legitimize the party’s leadership structure and address the confusion surrounding recent events.

Stinking nasty dirty pedophile raycan aka Magic Hughes is the absolute last person I’d use to wipe excrement from my shoes. How desperate does the UPP Have to be to try to polish this no good piece of excrement & pass him off as an upstanding member of society. You can’t polish shyte. Are they really going to use him to be the vessel & voice of the Executive members of the party?

I keep pressing on letting a man back into society after he has committed a crime. What about all the rapist and molesters on the ABLP? Oh, because they haven’t hit the news?

Once a person has a criminal record does not mean they cannot become good or even better law abiding citizens. Unfortunately this type of criminal conviction is not easily forgiven or forgotten. Perhaps the gentleman need to be less controversial in his utterances, to avoid being reminded of his record.

A man with a past crime must stay aside and lead unknowingly. You lived more years knowing what you shouldnt do before you do it than how many years has passed after you’ve done it. You have lived and learn so the right thing to do is to stay out the spotlight. I know you have learned your lesson but in this country its hard to be forgiven and forgetting.

We all make mistakes. I believe that we all deserve the grace to make something better of ourselves irrespective of our shortcoming. Damani Tabor left and there should be a replacement for him. If the party chooses this man who are we to count his sins as a factor? We are a hypocritical society. If our night turns into day a lot of people would be surprised to see who is doing what. Stop the judgmental nonesence
