On Sunday gone, the Villa Nazarene Church was filled with joy and gratitude as the community gathered to celebrate the remarkable transformation of young men from the Villa and Grays Green areas.
Once caught in a cycle of conflict, these two communities had seen their youths drawn into violence, delinquency, and a sense of hopelessness, influenced by challenging home environments and societal pressures. Today, however, these young men are making bold strides toward becoming positive leaders and role models.
It has been roughly seven months since the intervention began, and the progress these young men have made is inspiring. They are now attending school, working, receiving counseling, and focusing on strengthening their relationship with God.
The program aims not only to provide structure and opportunities but also to encourage these young men to grow spiritually, with a strong emphasis on church involvement and deepening their faith.

The service featured a powerful sermon from the church’s pastor, who shared a message from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” He urged the young men to embrace God’s promises, reminding them that their past does not determine their future. With unity, purpose, and faith, greatness lies ahead.
Mitchell Jeremiah, appointed and consulted by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, spearheaded the rehabilitation initiative. He is also the founder and president of the Mitch League, a youth reformation sports program in the United States, with plans to establish itself in Antigua and Barbuda.

In partnership with the government and other key stakeholders, Jeremiah and his dedicated team provided mentorship, structure, and unwavering support to the young men. During the service, he expressed heartfelt thanks to all who played a vital role in bringing the young men this far.
Once divided, the youths of Villa and Grays Green now stand together — no longer adversaries, but brothers united by hope, resilience, and a shared vision for a brighter future.
They are evolving into responsible, productive citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, ready to contribute to their communities and share their inspiring stories of transformation.
It is lovely to see the change created in these young men. All out to the government for seeing the future in them and making them meaningful to society.
I must commend the government for its initiative and Mitch League for its tremendous support. The church and its members must also be recognized. To the youths involved be an example to the others you know who are still in the same situation share your experiences with them
Jeremiah 29:11 is the perfect scripture for this moment. God truly has a plan for each of these young men. Keep walking in His purpose. This proves that with God, support, and community, even the most broken situations can be healed.
Mitchell Jeremiah’s dedication is so commendable. Programs like Mitch League can truly change lives if given the support they need.
This is just the beginning. I hope we see more investment in these kinds of interventions across the island. They say it takes a village, this story proves it. Let’s keep surrounding our youth with the love and structure they need to thrive.
This brought tears to my eyes. So proud of these young men for taking back their future. From hopelessness to hope, this is what true community looks like. Keep going, brothers. God is truly working in these young men. When we put faith first, transformation follows. Thank you, Villa Nazarene Church, for being the light in the community. The power of prayer and mentorship is real, That verse from Jeremiah was perfect. God’s plans are bigger than our past mistakes.
This makes my heart smile and I am so proud of each and every young man who has seen fit to make a change for his family, his future, his country, and simply for himself. I know it gets hard some times but keep on pushing because you are worthy…worthy of good things, worthy of peace and worthy of a prosperous and fulfilling life. So keep on pushing my young brothers…ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!
Thunderous applause. Great things happening
Really inspiratjonal stuff. Compliment the Browne Government. It really isnt easy to do what they did. Usually ppl would just swoop in and accuse and lock the juveniles but they were embracec instead.
