Finance Minister and Prime Minister Gaston Browne has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empower the working class during the annual Labour Day Rally held this morning.
In a spirited address, Browne emphasized the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve living standards, increase incomes, and diversify the economy.
“We will accelerate the collective bargaining agreement and agree to an increase no later than next year. We will also increase the minimum wage once again, the third time in about 10 to 11 years,” he said
Browne said his government would also ensure that workers benefited equally and equitably from Antigua and Barbuda’s gains.
“Without these workers, there will be no ABLP…you don’t have to march against us…all you have to do is say it and it will be done. When we eliminated personal income tax, we did not do it for ourselves; we did it for you,” he said
He said the ABLP is not just a movement of the masses but one that serves the people.
He said, “When I give you a commitment, you can take it to the bank. Under my leadership, the ABLP must continue to deliver for the workers in this country.”
My beloved Prime Minister Browne, keep on taking your people to higher heights. NOT Even the USA can brag about increasing their minimum wage even once in over 10 years. Sir, you are appreciated.
