Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda is currently participating in a pivotal meeting with six other Caricom leaders and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

This significant gathering aims to address crucial aspects of US-Caricom relations, focusing primarily on trade, security, immigration, and the Citizenship by Investment Programmes.

Accompanying Prime Minister Browne is Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United States, Sir Ronald Sanders.

Sir Ronald told State Media in an interview last night that PM Browne raised Antigua and Barbuda’s concerns.

“He said there is no question of the relationship between Antigua and Barbuda and the US. He pointed out that there is a bigger diaspora of Antiguans and Barbudans living in the US than we have people living in Antigua and Barbuda,” Sir Ronald said.

The CBI program was also discussed and the US and China relations.

As the global landscape continues to evolve, this meeting underscores the importance of collaboration between the United States and Caribbean nations in fostering sustainable growth and strengthening diplomatic ties.

Topics such as regional security initiatives and economic partnerships are anticipated to be high on the agenda, with all parties keen to explore avenues that benefit both sides.

The outcomes of this meeting could have lasting implications for trade agreements and immigration policies, as well as impact investment opportunities within the Caribbean region.

This dialogue represents a significant step towards enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation in key areas that affect the lives of citizens in both the United States and Caricom member states.
