High Court Shuts Down Bar Due To Complaints from Residents

The High Court of Justice has ruled to permanently close Galloway’s 8 Ball Sports Bar in the Paynters Court community, siding with residents who claimed the establishment disrupted their residential neighbourhood.

A Judge delivered the written decision brought by four Paynters Court residents against bar owner Kwame Galloway and the Social Security Board of Control.

The ruling upholds and extends a temporary injunction granted in January that had already forced the bar to cease operations. The court found that operating a commercial bar in the residential development violated community guidelines and unreasonably interfered with neighbours’ quality of life.

The dispute began when residents filed complaints about noise, disturbances, security risks, and misuse of community green space resulting from Galloway’s bar operation on his property.

The residents also named the Social Security Board of Control in their lawsuit, alleging the Board improperly allowed the commercial establishment in a residential area without consulting other homeowners. The Social Security Board was the original vendor of all properties involved in the dispute.

The permanent injunction prohibits Galloway and anyone acting under his direction from operating a bar or nightclub on the property, effectively ending a business that had become a point of contention in the otherwise quiet residential community.

  1. I am happy that this is over. I completely understand where the complainants are coming from and I don’t blame them. You cannot pay money to live in a place where you have no peace. Its very unfair.
I’m sorry that the business place had to close down cause it was in fact a very nice establishment, but its really not fair to the neighbors.

    • This NOISE AND DISTURBING PEOPLE’S SLEEP Happens in SO MANY PLACES IN Antigua …. And THE POLICE SERVICE Does ABSOLUTELY Nothing when Complaints are Made To the Various Police Stations ……

The Public is at A LOSS To Understand The Reason For The Police Service NOT Enforcing THE LAWS OF OUR Nation …..Because of THIS Some Bar Owners become BRAZEN …. Cussing AND INCREASING The Noise Level when Individuals Complain …. Or Report to Our Police Service who DOES Nothing To CORRECT This UNCARING Attitude of Some Bar Owners!!!

This Lack of Response by Our Police
Services to “Right This Wrong” leads US To Speculate about the CONNECTION between the Owners of THESE Bars in Our Communities and Our Police Services in ANU/BAR ….. SAD ….. VERY VERY VERY SAD!!!!!!!!
