Law Enforcement Seize $138,000 Worth Of Cannabis at Airport

Over $370k Worth of Cannabis Seized at Deep Water Harbour

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda — Wednesday, May 21, 2025

A significant quantity of cannabis valued at approximately $138,000 was seized at the V.C. Bird International Airport.

On Tuesday, officers from the Narcotics Department and Customs officials carried out a joint drug operation at the Airport Cargo Shed, and during the operation, they discovered a cardboard box containing twenty-three (23) vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis. The packages weighed a total of 23 pounds.

The controlled substance was confiscated and transported to Police Headquarters, as further investigations remain ongoing.

Law Enforcement Authorities remain committed to strengthening border security and combating the trafficking of illegal drugs into the country.   1. Why these police just ah hunt down the people over alittle herb like this tho. But in any case, it’s crazy to think that much cannabis was trying to come through the airport. Glad to hear the Narcotics Department and Customs officials caught it in time. It really shows the importance of vigilance in preventing illegal substances from getting into the community. What do you think the penalties will be for whoever was trying to smuggle it?
