Pigs Paradise Ordered to Cease Operations

The High Court has ordered the closure of Antigua’s west coast tourist attraction “Pigs Paradise,” declaring the business a legal nuisance to neighboring landowners.

In a ruling handed down by Justice Rene Williams, Pigs Paradise Ltd and owner Chantelle Winter are barred from operating the pig-based tourism venture or keeping pigs near the New Division Estate in Jennings. While the nuisance claim succeeded, the Court dismissed trespassing allegations due to lack of evidence.

The claimants alleged that the defendants had wrongfully constructed structures on the Hall family’s registered land at New Division Estate in St. Mary Parish and caused environmental damage, including destruction of vegetation and mangroves.

Vernon Hall and John Hall, representing the Estate of Robert L.V. Hall, along with J. Ray Hall, representing the Estate of Albert Victor Hall, initiated the legal action in May 2023. Their claim sought possession of their land, removal of unauthorized structures, and damages for trespass on an aggravated basis.

The defendants, who had been operating the business since approximately August 2022, were represented by attorney Kevon Benjamin, while the claimants were represented by E. Ann Henry KC and Michelle Sterling.

  4. People don’t like to see people strive in life. You could at least make plans to charge her for using the land. Cutting a persons bread makes no sense and sooner your bread will also run short. Guaranteed that nothing will be done on this land. The owners will just leave it there for trees and a set of bush to grow……
