Sandals Spa Offers Relaxation to Local Nurses

The Red Lane Spa at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa recently showed appreciation for healthcare workers by hosting a special wellness event for nurses from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center (SLBMC).

This initiative aligns with the spa’s philosophy of “time, connection, and love,” fully supported by the resort’s executive management. During Nurses Week 2025, themed “Our Nurses, Our Future – Caring for Nurses,” the spa organized an eight-hour massage event.

This marks the third year Sandals has held this appreciation event, with nearly 30 nurses enjoying rejuvenating spa treatments this time around. Each nurse experienced soothing massages, offering them a much-needed moment to relax and recharge.

Registered Nurse Tiffinee Thomas shared her feelings, stating, “As nurses, we often put in hard work without realizing it. This massage was a reset for me and my colleagues. Long shifts and the demands of the job can be overwhelming, so I’m grateful to Sandals for this wonderful experience.”

First-time guest Shennel Bailey, who works in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “The therapist was incredibly welcoming and informative, making me feel at ease throughout the session. I cherished every moment and definitely want to return next year!”

The wellness of healthcare professionals is crucial, as emphasized by Registered Nurse Jenica Williams, who remarked, “It’s essential for nurses to carve out time for self-care, regardless of their department. Nursing is inherently stressful; we often set aside our own feelings for our patients. If we don’t replenish our energy, we risk being left with nothing.”

In addition to the massage treatments, the resort also presented Director of Nursing Jacqueline Jno-Baptiste with two dinner passes for two as part of the hospital’s exciting prize package for the annual Nurse’s Week recognition awards.
