Antigua and Barbuda Wins West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championship
Team Antigua and Barbuda has claimed victory at the 2025 West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championships, defeating defending champions Guyana to secure the region’s most title in fullbore rifle shooting.
The competition was held at the Paragon Rifle Range in Barbados from May 17 to 25. Competing in the short-range category at distances of 300, 500, and 600 yards, Antigua and Barbuda outperformed Guyana at every distance.
The achievement marks a historic milestone for Antigua and Barbuda’s fullbore shooting program, with the team demonstrating precision, focus, and teamwork throughout the competition.
The winning squad comprised Captain Christopher Joseph, Daryl Charles, Edworth Benjamin, Maxine James, Noah St. Clair, Olson Daniel, Thomas Greenaway, Daniel Browne, and Anderson Perry.
Following the victory, team member Pastor Olson Daniel called for government support to develop better training facilities locally.
“It would be good if the government of Antigua and Barbuda recognized the accomplishments of the shooters and allocate a piece of land in some area that we can have up to a thousand yards and we would build a thousand yards range,” Daniel said.
“We only have up to 600 yards and when we travel, we have to shoot up to a thousand yards. So if the government could graciously smile upon us and give us a piece of land and we will put in all we have to put in up to a thousand yards it would make shooting in Antigua, that would put the icing on the cake.”
