A partnership between ACT Antigua and the Rotaract Club of Antigua has brought much-needed technological support to the TN Kirnon Primary School’s Unit for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
On Friday, representatives from both organisations visited the school to officially hand over two laptops aimed at enhancing digital access and learning opportunities for visually impaired students, especially those who attend secondary schools but receive support from the TN Kirnon unit.

The donation seeks to enhance learning resources and improve accessibility for visually impaired students, addressing the digital divide that often places special-needs learners at a disadvantage.
Andrew Doumith, Business Development Manager of ACT Antigua says that the purpose of this collaborative donation is to allow the visually impaired students, mainly those who are attached to secondary schools to access information from the classrooms digitally.
Doumith said that the donation of these two laptops will also allow the teachers to better prepare work for the students.
The donation was warmly received by the school’s administration, who praised the two organisations for their support. Teachers at the Unit for the Blind noted that the devices would be instrumental in delivering specialized lessons and providing assistive technology software to better meet students’ learning needs.
Joia Scotland, Community Service Director for the Rotaract Club of Antigua, emphasized that supporting local education remains a key focus of the club’s outreach. “It is one of the Rotaract club of Antigua’s goal to support local education, and in order to do so, we have decided to donate two laptops to the school for the blind, with the support of ACT.” she said.
The initiative reflects a growing focus on inclusive education in Antigua and Barbuda, where access to technology for differently-abled students is seen as a vital step toward equity in the classroom.
Great news. I’m haply to see ACT making contributions. More businesses should do the same.
