The Department of Creative Industries Presents “Understanding Your Voice” A Vocal Development Workshop for Soca and Calypso Artists

Tuesday 10th, June 2025 – St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – As Antigua and Barbuda prepares for the highly anticipated carnival and festival season, the Department of Creative Industries is proud to announce groundbreaking Vocal Development Workshop titled “Understanding Your Voice”, led by internationally acclaimed vocal trainer Yulexis Garcia.

The workshop will be held on June 23rd 2025 at the State Insurance Conference Room in the Treasury Building from 7pm to 9pm.

This specialized workshop is designed to support all vocalist particularly those who participates in the Soca and Calypso competitions, in achieving peak performance while safeguarding their vocal health.

Recognizing that the art of performance in these genres is both a cultural treasure and a rigorous discipline, the Ministry has crafted this initiative to enhance vocal ability, longevity, and stage impact.

• Soca and Calypso singers preparing for the upcoming competitive season
• Vocalists looking to refine technical skills and preserve long-term vocal health
• Emerging artists seeking professional guidance and development

• Stage Presence and Delivery Techniques

Led by the exceptional Yulexis Garcia, whose expertise in vocal training has benefitted artists across the Caribbean and Latin America, this session promises to equip participants with critical tools to elevate their artistry and preserve their vocal instrument throughout their careers.
