The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has announced that approximately 80 patients have already received life-changing eye procedures, including cataract and pterygium surgeries at the centre as of Wednesday 25th June, 2025.

SLBMC says that these surgeries are not only restoring sight but also transforming lives. Every restored smile, every clearer view, is more than a personal victory, it’s a ripple effect that touches families, strengthens communities, and uplifts our nation.

With additional surgeries still ahead, the hospital’s commitment to improving eye health across Antigua and Barbuda continues.

“We’re proud to be part of this journey, helping people regain their independence, confidence, and quality of life. And with more surgeries still to come, we’re not done yet.”
