Prime Minister Gaston Browne in discussion with Minister of State for International Cooperation for the UAE, Her Excellency Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy on the margins of the Conference (Office of the Prime Minister)
“This Conference is not just about speeches—it is about results. Every conversation I’ve had today is part of a broader mission to improve lives at home—whether through better financing, technical cooperation, or long-term strategic partnerships.”
On the second day of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville, Spain, Prime Minister Gaston Browne demonstrated a robust determination. With the focus of furthering the national development goals of Antigua and Barbuda, he participated in a series of high-level bilateral discussions and engagements.
As the Prime Minister met with dignitaries like Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development; Dr. Amit Prothi, Director General of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and Dr. Jarbas Barbosa da Silva Jr., Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), he remained driven by one goal: to provide meaningful and enduring advantages for the residents of Antigua and Barbuda.

Critical development priorities came into focus throughout the day, such as strategies for debt relief, financing for climate resilience, and capacity-building programs. Prime Minister Browne consistently championed the need for increased access to concessional financing, enhanced technical assistance for small nations, and strong partnerships to foster growth in tourism, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure.

Antigua and Barbuda continues to make waves at FfD4. The nation’s delegation is becoming known for its principled advocacy and innovative perspective. The nation as a whole is preparing to position itself for advocacy regarding the global financial system. Spurred on by Prime Minister Browne, it is being shown that even a small place can generate a loud voice – one that shouts for fairness and inclusiveness, taking into account the distinct vulnerabilities and development aspirations of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Glad to see follow-through beyond speeches. Results matter. Let’s hope these partnerships deliver concrete support.
This isn’t just talk, it’s follow-through. Seeing our Prime Minister pushing for financing solutions and technical partnerships shows a real commitment to the people of Antigua and Barbuda
Actions speak louder than words. I hope these meetings lead to real investment in healthcare and digital infrastructure at home.
Good work PM and team
