Harold Lovell and MP Jamale Pringle, Leader of the Opposition
In the wake of recent online speculation, the United Progressive Party (UPP) has dismissed claims of an impending leadership challenge to Jamale Pringle by Harold Lovell as nothing more than a distraction.
There have been reports suggesting Lovell was set to contest Pringle’s position ahead of an upcoming party convention, although the accompanying article lacked substantive details to back this assertion.
But UPP Chairman D. Gisele Isaac, in a statement to NewsCo characterized the report as a deliberate maneuver by the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party aimed at deflecting public attention from growing opposition to the government’s controversial decision to invest $75 million of Social Security funds into the redevelopment of the Jolly Beach Resort.

“This is all part of a strategy to undermine Harold Lovell, especially as resistance to the Social Security-Jolly Beach investment mounts,” Isaac stated.
Isaac also recalled a challenge posed by Prime Minister Gaston Browne to Lovell for a debate, which Lovell had accepted, yet the discussion never materialized.
Moreover, she pointed out that Browne had published an article discussing foreign investments in Social Security that were unrelated to local contexts, prompting criticism from Lovell.

Chupppps really and truly who cares. That’s all you internal battle that I don’t care about.

As a proud supporter of the United Progressive Party, I find it disheartening to see such unfounded rumors circulating about our leadership. Jamale Pringle has shown exceptional dedication and vision for our party, and it’s clear that any talk of a leadership challenge from Harold Lovell is simply a distraction. We should focus on the issues that matter and support our leadership as we move forward to strengthen our party and serve our community. Let’s rally behind Pringle and work together for a brighter future!
Forget rumors. Let’s have a public debate on the Social Security investment. Let leaders stand behind their decisions and justify them openly.
