ABWU President Represents Union at UNI Americas ICTS Conference

This week, Kem Riley, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU), proudly represented the Union at the 7th Regional Conference of UNI Americas ICTS. The event gathered delegates from across the Caribbean, highlighting pressing issues in the telecommunications sector.

Joining Riley were fellow Caribbean representatives, Andre Lewis from St. Lucia and Ruddy Thomas from Jamaica, who brought valuable insights into the challenges faced by workers in the region.

During the conference, Riley delivered a thought-provoking presentation that delved into the impact of technology on workers within the telecommunications industry.

He specifically addressed how the operations of Liberty Global are affecting workers in Antigua & Barbuda, underlining the need for ongoing dialogue and cooperation to protect workers’ rights in the face of an evolving technological landscape.

The conference served as an important platform for discussing the future of work in the telecommunications sector and reaffirming the commitment of unions to advocate for fair treatment and support for workers throughout the region..
