Interns from the Ministry of Agriculture visited SHAADE Hydroponics, a backyard garden run by Mrs. Sherrie-Ann Brazier. The hands-on experience focused on hydroponic gardening and sustainable food production.
During the visit, interns prepared drip hydroponics systems for new seedlings, rotated seedling trays, stained wood for future structures, and cleaned NFT channels. They also pruned herbs such as basil and parsley.
Mrs. Brazier’s garden features a variety of produce, showcasing the potential of hydroponics in small spaces.

The visit concluded with refreshing smoothies from Sunkiss Smoothies, providing a delightful end to the educational experience.

Hydroponics is the future, especially with land space becoming limited. More of these backyard setups, please
It’s great to see these efforts, but will the Ministry help these interns start their own gardens after the program? Skills need support to thrive.
