Antigua Yacht Club Announces the 2025 Commodore’s Cup Race

Commodore Clarence Pilgrim

The Antigua Yacht Club is delighted to invite all sailors and members of the yachting community to participate in the highly anticipated Commodore’s Cup Race on Saturday, 26th July 2025.

This year’s event promises excitement both on and off the water, with Commodore Clarence Pilgrim serving as Officer of the Day (OOD). In a special tribute to one of our club’s distinguished leaders, a new course mark, “FB,” has been introduced in honor of Past Commodore Franklyn Braitwaite. This mark will be positioned between Start/Finish (SF) and Admiral Bailey (AB), east of the shallows, and must be respected to port, ensuring safety and an enhanced racing experience.

There will be two thrilling races:

Race 1 will begin at 1500 hours, following the standard 3-minute start sequence by sound, flags, and VHF communication.

Race 2 will follow shortly thereafter.

All competitors are reminded to tune their VHFs to Channel 12 and check in with the Race Committee prior to the start.

Following the races, participants and spectators are invited to the Commodore’s Bar, which will be open and hosted by Zoe — the perfect setting to unwind, celebrate, and share the day’s racing stories.

This year’s Commodore’s Cup Race promises not only thrilling competition but also camaraderie and community spirit, hallmarks of the Antigua Yacht Club tradition.

For further details and to confirm participation, please contact the Race Committee.

      • The Antigua Yacht Club has an excellent Commodore and he is promoting the activities that i remember many years ago when I visit the island. These are the positive activities that promote good sportsmanship in yachting

      • I am thinking you should use your real names!

    • The yachting industry is too serious to make frivolous comments. I have raced several times in ASW and one of the weaknesses of local sailing is the lack of regular competitions. Anyone who can push competitions have my support.

  2. I am not into personality, I am in to substance. Commodore Pilgrim is doing an excellent job as Commodore. Continue to pursue more competitions Besides it’s the race committee that decides on races not the Commodore. If they decide to have a Commodore race what’s wrong with that?
