Shalom Bailey of Yorks has been charged with the 2024 fatal shooting at Asylum Nightclub
The police have arrested 32-year-old Shalom Bailey from Yorks, charging him with the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Kevin Vaceannie and the attempted murder of Darien Rover from Cassada Gardens.
The event occurred on May 15, 2024, at the Asylum Night Club Bar and Restaurant, where Bailey allegedly fired shots at both men before fleeing. Vaceannie was pronounced dead at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, while Rover received treatment for his injuries.
Bailey has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder following police investigations. He is expected to appear in court today.
Shalom Bailey, along with co-defendent Jason Millette, recently had previous murder charges dropped, in connection with the death of Xavier Thomas, who was killed in Cedar Grove on August 18, 2017.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda continues to prioritize public safety and accountability for violent crimes, urging the community to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing any helpful information.

Not here to argue innocence or guilt that’s for the courts. But I do find it mighty convenient that this charge just surfaced now, more than a year after the shooting at Asylum and so soon after Shalom Bailey was acquitted in another murder case.
Wasn’t this incident investigated back in 2024?
Was evidence not available then?
Or did something conveniently “resurface” just in time to keep him in the system?
I’m asking, respectfully but directly why the delay?
If the police had this case in hand all along, what caused the holdup in pressing charges? And if this is based on new evidence, the public deserves clarity not coincidence.
Again, I’m not defending anyone. I’m just tired of the see-saw justice system. Either we have a solid case, or we have convenient timing. But the people watching aren’t blind.
Not much to be said because you’ve said it all. This needs clarity and Shalom needs justice.
Good job officers. As far as am aware there’s no time limit on when a person can be charged for a capital offense. Why do we think the police need to update the public on everything they do the investigation is ongoing plain and simple.
Concerned Young Citizen, I have absolutely no desire to defend the police as they must always be held to account. However, you must know investigations are not and cannot be an overnight thing! Sometimes these things take years, with the disovery of new evidence, so like you not to discuss about guilt or innocent, but sufficient evidence to sustain a prosecution then he should be charge.
Now that charges have been laid, it’s important to allow the judicial process to take its course. We await further developments as the case proceeds through the courts.
