Prime Minister Gaston Browne has responded to Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle’s police complaint over a failed concert performance, questioning why the matter was brought to law enforcement and offering to cover the disputed amount.

In a Facebook post, Browne said: “Why would Pringle and his UPP acolytes seek to drag the Royal Antiguan & Barbudan Police Force into this civil squabble over $5,000. I guess the ‘dead dog’ money dried up. I will undertake to reimburse them, if they are so desperate.”

The Prime Minister’s comments came after Pringle, the United Progressive Party leader, lodged a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department following a controversial incident involving a contracted performance for Labour Day 2025.

According to Pringle, he engaged the services of Stardom Records to secure a performance by popular artist Armani Givenchy Moodie. The contract, overseen by Pringle’s attorney at Bowen & Bowen, outlined a performance fee of $10,000 USD, with half paid as a down payment.

However, on the day of the show, Pringle reported that the performance team failed to appear, leading to significant disappointment among attendees and no return of the deposit.

In his statement to authorities, Pringle expressed frustration not only over the breach of contract but also highlighted that he received neither an apology nor his deposit back from Stardom Records.

He indicated that he had reason to believe that the team would be in Antigua again for a carnival season show, prompting him to request police assistance in recovering his funds.

    • Jealousy of a man who rose out of poverty to the ranks he has attained is diabolical! PM Browne’s astute investing skills and good stewardship of what he is blessed with got him to that level so please dispense with the jealousy. In fact, you might want to sit at his feet and take a few lessons.
