Is Prime Minister Gaston Browne quietly positioning his wife, Hon. Maria Browne, to be his successor? It is a question that is becoming harder to ignore with each passing day and each new Facebook post.
One only needs to glance at the Prime Minister’s far-reaching social media presence to spot a trend: relentless promotion of his wife’s ministry and her public appearances. Whether it is roadworks, building repairs, or community engagements, her efforts are shared like clockwork, often with glowing captions and sometimes even multiple posts in a single day. But what about the rest of his Cabinet?
Where are the highlights of the Ministry of Agriculture’s achievements? What of the Ministry of Tourism, Education,Utilities or Health? Are they not equally deserving of recognition? Or are their accomplishments less politically useful?
If the Prime Minister commands such a large digital audience, an audience that likely includes a significant portion of the voting public, should he not be using that platform to uplift and showcase the collective work of his entire government? The omission seems deliberate.
Of course, no one denies that Hon. Maria Browne has been active in her role. But the level of focus and exposure she receives solely from the Prime Minister himself raises a legitimate question: is this governance or grooming?
Are we witnessing a strategic move to manufacture consent, to build name recognition, and to lay the foundation for Antigua and Barbuda’s first political husband and wife handover? Is this democracy at work or dynasty in progress?
For now, the public can only speculate and laugh at the spectacle. But behind the smiles and photo ops, a very serious question lingers: is Gaston Browne’s legacy project not a national development plan but a familial succession plan?

When I ead that story it makes me wonder which one of the Prime Minister’s Comrades benefits from writing this fairy tale. Could it be that a certain Minister who is carrying on a secret clandestine war against his leader wishes to come out of the closet and mount a challenge? If that’s the case then attacking like a coward and stabbing in the back is definitely NOT leadership material. It is the act of a weakling!
We all know the name of the back stabbing individual in the ALP Party who wants to be Prime Minister. He has no loyalty to anyone but he wants the top job!
Chups and MASHHHH
The question isn’t about who someone is married to; it’s about their performance. Minister Maria Browne’s record in Housing and Urban Renewal should be the basis of any discussion about her political future. Let’s debate her policies and accomplishments, not just her last name or her husband’s position.
Why don’t the person who is pushing himself to become Prime Minister, show the nation why he should be Prime Minister! With the amount of baggage he has, and a history of self promotion and deliberste manipulation of every one around him, with no loyalty to anyone but himself! It is no wonder that he has no support either with his fellow Ministers who he bad talk all the time or the grassroots of the party that he treats like dirt, but pretends he is helpful. He uses people like tools to better himself, his family and friends! He is NOT a true Comrade but a pretender!
I believe the PM is doing what he knows how to do. Lol
If this isn’t grooming, it certainly walks and talks like it. The rest of the Cabinet is visibly absent from the PM’s spotlight, that’s more than coincidence.
Leadership succession is a conversation we should be having publicly, not decoding from Facebook posts.
