With Tropical Storm Erin churning westward toward the Caribbean, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has urged residents of Antigua and Barbuda to prepare for potential impacts and remain vigilant.

According to state media, the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Office this morning briefed Cabinet members via a Zoom conference from its broadcast studio, outlining the latest forecasts.

By afternoon, the office issued an updated advisory warning the public to be ready for possible storm conditions.

Speaking from overseas, Browne stressed that distance has not diminished his attention to the approaching system.

All residents of Antigua and Barbuda must be prepared and take nothing for granted,” he said. He also called for the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) to be placed on high alert in case Erin shifts its path southward.

The Prime Minister emphasized unity in the face of natural disasters, recalling the nation’s resilience in past storms.

While hopeful that prayers will spare the islands from severe damage, Browne urged the public to keep a close watch on official bulletins from the Meteorological Office.

Erin, described by forecasters as dangerous, continues its path toward the region, prompting heightened readiness across multiple island nations.
