As Antigua and Barbuda readies itself for the start of the 2025/2026 cruise season, the Antigua Cruise Port is inviting Destination Ambassadors from across the island to take part in a specialised training programme designed to raise the bar on visitor experiences.
The “Leading for Excellence” workshop will run on Tuesday, August 26, and Wednesday, August 27, bringing together key players in the cruise tourism sector from taxi drivers and vendors to tour operators, traffic wardens, and police officers.
The two-day event will be led by Claudine Pohl of Lemoneight, a globally recognised cruise tourism consultant celebrated for her energetic and interactive sessions.
“The goal of this two-day program is to unite cruise tourism stakeholders – including taxi drivers, merchants, vendors, tour operators, tra ic wardens and even police officers; ensuring that everyone representing our destination on the hospitality front-line of guest experiences is aligned with keeping Antigua and Barbuda “Anchored In Cruise Excellence,” said Elijah James, Marketing and Communications Manager at Antigua Cruise Port. “It’s all about exceeding expectations. We must ensure that everyone contributes to creating memorable moments that visitors will cherish long after coming ashore to explore our vibrant culture and stunning attractions”
The training will focus on unifying hospitality stakeholders under the theme Anchored in Cruise Excellence, with emphasis on professionalism, cultural pride, and exceptional service delivery.
With limited spots available, organisers are encouraging early registration at https://cruiseconnect.org/workshop.

Media people should be part of this training
Our country deserves to be a top-tier destination, and it starts with this kind of investment.
Hope this workshop actually helps everyone, from taxi drivers to police be on the same page.
Can’t wait to see the improvements this season. First impressions matter, especially for cruise guests.
Education is key. But there are so many areas that can be impoved where the cruise port is concerned. More on the ground presence. Alot of staff but we are not seeing much
