Traffic Delays Reported as Road Repairs Continue Across Antigua

18 August 2025 - 12:23

The Ministry of Works is advising motorists to expect traffic delays this week as road crews continue major infrastructure repairs under the Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project.

According to the Project Implementation Management Unit (PIMU), single-lane traffic is in effect on several key routes, including Anchorage Road, where road markings and concrete works are scheduled to continue daily from 8 a.m., and Valley Road North, where crews are carrying out asphalt repairs, junction improvements, and guardrail adjustments.

In addition, the busy intersection of Old Parham Road and Wireless Road will be closed to traffic on Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24, to facilitate junction repairs. Officials say details of traffic detours will be released later this week.

Flag persons will be on site to direct traffic, and motorists are urged to drive with caution as heavy-duty equipment will be operating close to the roadways. Authorities stressed that while work is ongoing, all businesses in affected areas remain open.

Contractor C.O. Williams Ltd., which is carrying out the project on behalf of the government, apologized for the inconvenience and encouraged the public to plan ahead to avoid delays.

For further information, the public may contact the C.O. Williams Project Office at 562-9573.
