The Rising Sun Grounds were filled today as hundreds of parents and children turned out for the Social Protection Board’s third annual back-to-school drive. Officials reported it was the largest turnout since the programme began.

Operations Manager Mary Baltimore said the event’s growing popularity highlights both the demand for support and the board’s commitment to helping families prepare for the new school year.

Children received school bags, shoes, and other essential supplies. With the heat intensifying and lines growing long, board members stepped in to distribute bottled water to ease the strain on waiting families.

Despite the challenges of the large crowd, organisers described the drive as a success, ensuring that every eligible child left with the tools needed for the classroom.
