The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are celebrating a major career milestone for their star all-rounder Shakib al-Hasan, who on Sunday became only the fifth bowler in world cricket to claim 500 wickets in T20 matches.
Shakib reached the landmark during the Falcons’ clash with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 11 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
The Bangladesh great removed Mohammed Rizwan with a sharp caught-and-bowled to seal the milestone, finishing with outstanding figures of 3-11 from two overs.
The Falcons went on to win convincingly, strengthening their grip at the top of the points table.
Head Coach Paul Nixon praised Shakib’s achievement, describing him as “a true professional and a match-winner.”
“Reaching 500 T20 wickets is no small achievement,” Nixon said. “It speaks volumes about his tremendous ability, his superb skills, and relentless competitiveness over the years.
We’re honoured to have a player of his calibre in the Falcons family.”
Shakib, already regarded as one of the finest allrounders in modern cricket, continues to leave his mark on the CPL with both bat and ball. His milestone places him in elite company and further cements his reputation as one of the format’s most enduring match-winners.

This isn’t just a milestone for him, it’s a proud moment for the Falcons too. Having a player of Shakib’s calibre elevates the entire team.
It’s not just the wickets, it’s his all-round contribution. Bat, ball, leadership. this guy changes matches singlehandedly.
What a legend! Congratulations to Shakib al-Hasan on reaching 500 T20 wickets a milestone that proves his consistency and greatness over the years. Falcons lucky to have him!
