Antigua Cruise Ports has announced that homeporting operations for the Arvia will officially begin on November 15 at the country’s new cruise terminal.
General Manager Gasper George made the disclosure on Monday during a media tour of the Upland Development Project, a $40 million investment designed to modernize Antigua and Barbuda’s cruise infrastructure.
Situated along Newgate Street in St. John’s, the new terminal forms a key part of the port’s landside redevelopment.
The facility will feature a main operating wing, bathrooms, an information centre, and a dedicated service road complete with a roundabout to accommodate passenger drop-offs and baggage screening.
Officials say the project not only enhances the efficiency of port operations but also positions Antigua as a premier homeporting destination in the Caribbean.

So proud to see Antigua step up in the cruise industry. This shows our island is ready to compete with the best in the region.
This is a big win for Antigua and Barbuda! Home porting means more visitors, more jobs, and more opportunities for local businesses. November 15 can’t come soon enough!
Best news for the day. I welcome this.
They are really serious about making this happen and I love the momentum that they maintaining. I can see movements happening
Roll wagon, roll.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🇦🇬🇦🇬🇦🇬
I simply love the idea. The cruises are bit expensive and the 14 days seem like alot but its better than having to buy a ticket to catch a boat
November can’t come soon enough. Homeporting the Arvia is a big win for tourism and for local businesses in St. John’s.
Infrastructure like this is crucial, but I also hope the government looks at traffic flow in St. John’s, because cruise days already get crowded.
This is a great move. Especially since many people in the Cairbbean cannot get US Visas. They can take the cruise right at home. Good move
