The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has received a significant boost to its modernization efforts through a donation of electronic equipment from the People’s Republic of China.
Her Excellency Zhang Yangling, China’s Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, handed over the items during a ceremony at the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday.
The donation included laptop and desktop computers, projectors and screens, WiFi routers, and other equipment intended to enhance the Force’s operational capacity.
Acting Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers welcomed the support, describing it as more than just a gift of tools, but a symbol of the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
“This timely donation will strengthen our ability to serve and protect the people of Antigua and Barbuda with greater efficiency and effectiveness,” Jeffers said. “It also demonstrates the continued partnership and support of the People’s Republic of China in advancing our national security objectives.”
Jeffers also extended congratulations to the Government and people of China on the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He hailed the occasion as a historic milestone that reflects courage, sacrifice, and resilience, noting it serves as an inspiration to nations everywhere in their pursuit of peace and security.

Governor-General Sir Rodney Williams attended the ceremony and offered congratulatory remarks to China, reaffirming Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
The Royal Police Force expressed optimism that the partnership will continue to foster peace, safety, and progress for both countries.

Good move! Crime is getting more sophisticated, so our law enforcement must be equipped to match it.
Partnerships like this show the value of international friendships. China continues to stand with Antigua and Barbuda.
Technology alone won’t solve crime, but it’s a step in the right direction. Training and accountability must follow.
“It will strengthen the ability to serve and protect” I certainly hope so and their not out in a corner to take dust or find themselves at someone’s home. Just saying.
