On Wednesday, the Cabinet met with members of the Ecclesiastical Commission to discuss two key documents, the ratification of the Commission’s Terms of Reference and a proposed Code of Conduct for political parties and candidates.
Cabinet members agreed to review both documents in detail and invited the Commission to return in the coming weeks for further dialogue.
In the same session, Cabinet formally approved the establishment of a National Day of Prayer, which will be observed annually on the second Thursday of September, beginning on 11 September 2025.
The new public holiday will feature a national march and a Prayer Service, with the entire day dedicated to prayer and fasting for the nation and its people.
To preserve the sanctity of the observance, Cabinet also approved a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol on that day, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path is what the word says so I think this is a brilliant idea. God knows, this is needed with all the killings and robberies happening lately.
A day of prayer is much needed, especially with all the crime and challenges facing the nation. Perfect initiative
Wow another holiday for people to party and do any and everything else except what the day is designed for.
People like myself will use it to get much needed rest and relaxation
Finally, our leaders are acknowledging the role of faith in national life. I fully support the National Day of Prayer.
Prayer is good, but I hope the politicians also take the Code of Conduct seriously. Otherwise, it’s just symbolism.
