Hucksters Protest Losses at Port; Management Blames Overpacked Boxes | VIDEO STORY

Dominican hucksters protested over poor handling of their weekly produce shipments, claiming that shipments are often left exposed to the elements during offloading, resulting in significant losses.

They have requested the Port Manager to provide tents or shelter to protect their goods, but their concerns have not been addressed.

But the Port Manager says the issue is not just about exposure and damaged goods but poor packaging and lack of common sense by those exporting the goods from Dominica.

  1. I don’t blame Darwin. I mean we can see no thought went into the proper packing of produce.
Like old people would say it looks chock and block.
Proper package may help solve the problem

  3. After all is said and done, the two parties are to be blamed. How long does it take to find shelter for these peoples produce. Come on. And yes i agree…the packaging is a problem. I saw how these boxes were overpacked and flimsy tape was used to seal them. Two entities must work together to rectify the issue.

Packaging and a vessel that ties down goods under a trampolin in hot sun some goods must get spoil ,agreed there should have been shelters in place befor moving us from point whaft but blaming the port for goods that are badly packed & stored for import is so wrong ,darwayne your answers was on point 100%

  6. I understand what the Dominicans are saying but if the boat doesn’t have a shelter, what can the port authority do? And look at these boxes you can see the boxes are even bursting

  7. I think that both parties need to look into the handling of these goods! Packing and off loading. If a box suppose to be 45lbs why over pack them? That’s trying to cheat the system! And you see how a boat is so that means it takes a long time to unpack. Just like when a business is doing stock taking and so on
