In a move aimed at improving public safety and environmental health, the Cabinet has approved a series of new community clean-up measures.
The police will now step up efforts to remove derelict vehicles, giving owners just 14 days after notice before their cars are towed to designated dumpsites.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has also directed the Ministries of Health and Urban Renewal to invest $500,000 in new garbage bins, which will be distributed across neighborhoods island-wide.
The government believes that the combined measures from strengthening police resources with trained dogs to addressing roadside hazards and neighborhood blight are part of a coordinated strategy to make Antigua and Barbuda cleaner, safer, and more resilient.

Hope the 14-day notice is strictly enforced. Some people just ignore warnings otherwise.
Love seeing the government take proactive steps to improve our environment and neighborhoods.
Why should the ministry engage in community learn up? That’s the 7responsibility of the community. Some of us too damn nasty
I look around some place and I wonder how people can live around such nastyness and not feel the least bit upset
Go ahead my beloved Prime Minister Browne. Make Antigua the Mecca of the Caribbean and drag along the nasty ones who try to impede progress by the nose if you have to. Let them know their devilishness will not be tolerated because
cleanliness is next to Godliness and a better, safer, healthier, more beautiful Antigua is a must.
Love to see the government and community coming together. Small actions like this make a big difference.
