September is recognized globally as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, an 11-year-old from Antigua is sharing his journey of resilience and hope.
Kishon John was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, and has endured months of treatment marked by both physical challenges and emotional struggles. Despite the difficulties, Kishon has spoken openly about his experiences, giving insight into the realities faced by children battling cancer.
In recounting his story, Kishon described not only the pain and uncertainty of treatment but also the determination that has carried him forward. His honesty, community members say, has shed light on the hidden burdens of young patients and the strength it takes to survive.
Health advocates note that support from family, friends, and the wider community is critical for children undergoing cancer treatment. Kishon’s story is a reminder of the importance of standing with patients and their families throughout their journey.
As Antigua and Barbuda joins the global observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Kishon’s courage and survival are being celebrated as symbols of hope for others still fighting the disease.
