Authorities are investigating a break-in at a popular city clothing store that left its owner counting losses of cash, cigarettes, and electronics.
Kefah Bsomai, proprietor of Fashion Alert on Corn Alley, reported that sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, and 5:45 a.m. the following morning, unknown intruders forced their way into his business and made off with more than $3,000 in cash, several cartons of cigarettes, a quantity of electronic vapes, a tablet, and multiple cell phones.
Investigators said the burglars smashed a lock on the store’s eastern glass door using a hard object, then pried open a burglar bar before shattering the glass. After ransacking the store, they escaped through the same entry point.
Initial inquiries and questioning of nearby residents yielded no helpful leads. A search for the stolen goods also turned up empty.
The Forensic Evidence and Recovery Unit (FERU) processed the crime scene for clues. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify those responsible.
Members of the public with information are encouraged to contact CID or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
