The countdown has begun to Antigua and Barbuda’s 44th Independence Anniversary, and the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) has officially unveiled the theme, logo, and a packed calendar of events for this year’s celebrations, running from October 25 to November 3, 2025.
This year, the nation will celebrate under the rousing theme “SOLID – STABLE – SOARING,” a bold reflection of resilience and forward momentum. The theme pays homage to the country’s strong historical foundation, highlights the stability of a growing economy, and sets the tone for a future filled with opportunity and promise.

A New Logo to Match the Spirit
At the heart of the launch is a freshly designed Independence logo—a sleek, modern interpretation inspired by the national flag. With bold curves and fluid lines, the design mirrors the dynamism of the people, while the sunburst and vibrant national colors shine with pride, strength, and unity.
Ten Days of Patriotism and Culture
The celebrations promise ten days of cultural pride, creativity, and community spirit.
Among the highlights are the beloved National Youth Rally, the soul-stirring Festival of Choirs, and the much-anticipated return of the Independence Calypso Competition.
Special milestones will also take center stage:
The National Youth Theatre marks its 20th anniversary with a new theatrical production, “Wadadli Root.”
Team Antigua – Island Girls will present “Unchartered Waters,” a performance highlighting courage and resilience.
And in a special tribute, the legendary Burning Flames Band will be honored with a “Highway Traffic Jam” celebration on the Potters Village Highway, commemorating their 40 years of musical excellence.
A Patriotic Campaign
Beyond the stage and parades, ABFC will roll out a special patriotic campaign in mid-October, just ahead of Independence Day on November 1st. This initiative will showcase the national flag in vibrant new ways across ABFC’s social media platforms—an invitation for all citizens to embrace and express their pride.
Leaders Call for Unity and Pride
Daryll S. Matthew, Minister of Education, Sports and Creative Industries, underscored the significance of this year’s theme, noting that Antigua and Barbuda’s journey is one of building on the legacy of its forebears, standing firm in unity, and soaring confidently toward the future.
Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul, Chairperson of the ABFC, echoed that sentiment, promising a year of creativity and national pride: “From the stage to the streets, we are showcasing Antigua and Barbuda at its finest. The timing of this patriotic initiative could not be more perfect.”
A Call to Celebrate
As the nation edges closer to its 44th year of Independence, the ABFC is calling on all citizens and residents to join in the festivities, wear the national colors with pride, and reflect on the journey of a people whose light continues to shine brightly on the world stage.
Solid. Stable. Soaring. That is Antigua and Barbuda—rooted in heritage, steadfast in spirit, and boldly rising into the future.

Ahhhh there I was thinking the celebration would have taken place on the Monday. So is the Saturday a regular working day? I’m a bit confused so I hope I get some clarity.
I like the line-up thought. I will definitely be there
