Minister of Foreign Affairs E.P. Chet Greene, has paid tribute to the achievements of the People’s Republic of China and reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship between the two nations, as he delivered remarks on the occasion of China’s 76th anniversary.

Reflecting on China’s historic journey since its founding, Minister Greene described it as one of “resilience, transformation, and unprecedented progress.” He lauded the monumental feat of lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty, advancing technological innovation, and building a modern society that commands global admiration.

“China’s story is not merely one of internal development. It is a story increasingly intertwined with a shared vision for humanity—one of mutual respect, win-win cooperation, and global peace and prosperity,” Greene noted.

The Minister underscored that this vision resonates strongly with Antigua and Barbuda, pointing to the decades-long partnership with China. He highlighted tangible contributions to the nation’s development, from the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium and the new terminal at V.C. Bird International Airport to advances in agricultural technology, healthcare collaboration, and educational scholarships.

“This support has been crucial to our national development agenda, and for that, we are eternally grateful,” Greene said. “Our relationship is a shining example of how a major global power can work in sincere partnership with a small island developing state on the principles of equality and shared benefit.”

Greene concluded by congratulating the People’s Republic of China on 76 years of growth and prosperity, while extending Antigua and Barbuda’s best wishes for China’s continued success under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China.
