Police have taken a 35-year-old man into custody following an early-morning break-in at a business on North Street.

The suspect, identified as Ramone “Rusty” Thomas of New Winthorpes, was arrested shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday when officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) responded to the scene.

According to a statement released by police just now, lawmen acted swiftly on a call about the burglary and managed to intercept Thomas near the premises.

“Several items believed to have been stolen during the incident were recovered during the operation. Thomas was later transported to CID headquarters, where he is being questioned. Police say investigations are ongoing,” the statement read.

  9. Boy, Rusty really thought he was in a movie scene….Mr breaking in at 2:30 in the morning like he invisible. Only problem is, police watching him like Netflix. Imagine trying to sneak away with “several items,” and next thing you know you’re getting chauffeured straight to CID headquarters. Free ride, free questioning, no tip required.
